RA High School ruled the senor boys 100m final winning the gold and silver medals during the Ra/Tavua/Nadarivatu/Vatukoula athletics zone meet held at Garvey Park yesterday.

Navolau lad Ilaisa Bete won the blue ribbon event clocking the 11.44sec on the grass track to edge his teammate Aporosa Kaivata.

Bete said he was surprised to be crowned the zone sprint king and had set his eyes on the Coca-Cola Games blue ribbon event.

“This is one my best moments in fact I didn’t expect to win,” he said.

“I am also happy that my teammate came second which I think is a huge boost for the school.

“When I started that race I made sure to give my utmost best because there are many good runners competing at the race. I am really grateful to win.”

The Year 11 student said he would continue working hard to compete against the best from other schools at the Suva games.

He said he heard of the big names from other schools and was ready for the titanic battle.

“I believe the Coke Games will be a different experience altogether as all the top sprinters from other schools will compete for the blue ribbon event.”

Bete’s teammate Kaivata said he would also try his luck during the Fiji Finals.

“I will not stop here and will work extra hard to prove my worth at the Coke Games. I believe whoever works hard and have faith in the Lord will win the blue ribbon,” said Kaivata.
