QVSOB teams ready for annual battle

THE QVSOB Rugby Club launched their 2016 annual rugby challenge between their eastern and western teams at the QVSOB Club House in Toorak last night.

According to QVSOB Rugby Suva chairman Jone Biaukula the two teams would be competing for the SLR (Sitiveni Ligamamada Rabuka) trophy.

This is in honor of Fiji’s former prime minister and also former headboy of the school Rabuka.

He said the main game was expected to kick off at 12midday tomorrow at the University of the South Pacific grounds in Lacala Bay.

He said it would be a launching pad for their players to secure overseas contracts for themselves.

During the launch QVSOB west captain Eseroma Sivo said they would be expecting a big game from their brothers in Suva.

“We have prepared well for this because we know we have a very gigantic task ahead of us and will do our best to wrestle the SLR trophy from them.

Meanwhile former Suva rugby prop forward and QVSOB eastern captain Seremaia Waqanisau said it was always tough to play against one another.

“What we are trying to do here is to pull in our old boys who have just finished from QVS to play for our club rather than playing for other rugby clubs so we could keep this competition alive,” Waqanisau said.

National QVSOB vice-president Akuila Waradi said the game would be more like a battle of epic proportions as two Victorian brigades go head to head for the trophy.

The competition is sponsored by Coca-Cola Amatil and Fiji Water.
