QUICK VIEWS

Unification bout

It was one of the worst fights I have seen. Even the commentators were not happy with the referee separating the boxers as soon as they came closer.

Alexander Povetkin vs David Price was a much better fight. Alexander Povetkin should be matched with Anthony Joshua.

Climate change

Within the past 10 years, the effect of climate change has really intensified as we are presently experiencing. A 10-minute continuous rain can cause immense flash flood because of the increase intensity of such down pour.

However, as a frequent traveller along the Queens highway and Suva-Nausori corridor, it is suggested that road markings are to be provided with a more effective and efficient manner.

In today’s change of weather pattern, road islands, centre line and seal edges are hardly visible, leave alone at night time. And with the present traffic volume on our roads, a 15m visibility is terrifying.

Crash probe

Weeks after the terrible accident that happened in Delaikoro, Macuata that unfortunately claimed two lives, I believe no result has eventuated. I believe it is in the public interest that we know the findings otherwise flying becomes a dangerous affair especially among commercial passengers and tourists.

I believe we must restrict the right of small planes to fly wherever they please. We must start with authorising agencies.

This is the right of people. Someone help!

Power cuts

I thought it was rather odd for FEA to do upgrades when we were heading into a long weekend.

And more so with a tropical depression bearing down upon us.

Power cuts were the order of the day.

Visa-free entry

With reference to Simon Hazelman’s Letter FT 13/3 about no visa-free entry to Australia and New Zealand I checked on Wikipedia and it says; “As of 1 January 2018, Fijian citizens had visa-free or visa on arrival access to 84 countries and territories, ranking the Fijian passport 57th in terms of travel freedom”.

One wonders what are the two big neighbours afraid of if they got onto that list, besides unwanted overstayers?
