QUICK VIEWS

Albert Park

IF the State is going to inject $10m into developing Albert Park then maybe it should consider building international standard sized grounds.

Flying Fijians

ONE friend from Nausori asked me, “why is the Fiji 15s rugby team called the Flying Fijians”? Is there a significance about flying?

In parliament

I BELIEVE with $50,000 minimum pay a year and a shorter Parliament sitting schedule, it is becoming more of an attractive retirement job.

80 minutes

WHY aren’t our Flying Fijians playing the full 80 minutes of rugby? They have the stamina but I think they are not psyched up well enough hence the laxity and indiscipline that always creep in the second half. The mental preparedness is lacking. To be in the right frame of mind, anything is possible, even for another mix.

EPL on TV

THE new season of the English Premier League begins on August 8. With all the transfer dealings taking place and teams preparing to challenge holders Chelsea, this promises to be yet another amazing season of entertaining and thrilling English football. Big thanks to FBC TV and Fiji One for the amazing coverage last season. Hopefully, the new season is also aired live on free to air TV. So far, no indications from either channels but keeping fingers crossed.

Iconic lion

I BELIEVE the American who went to Zimbabwe and paid $68,000 to shoot and kill the country’s iconic lion Cecil gives us a far better insight of the ugly American then Graham Green’s book The Ugly American could imagine.

Healthy food

RECENT observations that healthy food is more expensive, should be taken with a grain of salt. You may need to pay extra now but you will save much more in the long run on medical bills and down time.

Smoke-free

LAUTOKA has been declared a smoke-free city. Do you really think that by declaring any place smoke-free, it solves the problem? I don’t think so. Many laws are in place and people keep breaking them. Our enforcement groups are not doing their job, so why make another law that we can’t enforce.
