Quest for victory

NADI will leave no stones unturned in its quest to win the final game of the Pillay Garments Champion versus Champion against Suva at Nadi’s Prince Charles Park today.

The jetsetters defeated the Capital City Boys in their first game in Suva on Friday and are confident of repeating the feat to become champions when the dust settles this afternoon.

Nadi president Navneeda Goundar said the team was injury-free and was confident of another good outing.

“We need to win this second game and definitely we are going for nothing else than a win,” he said.

“We understand that Suva will want to avenge their loss and we have few tricks up our sleeves to contain them.

“A win will boost the players’ morale ahead of the upcoming O’League championship.”

Goundar said the team needed improvement in their forwards.

“We need improvement in the strikers as we missed many scoring opportunities in the first game,” he said.

“We cannot afford to commit the same mistakes in the second game because we need goals to win matches.”

Samuela Drudru and Napolioni Qasevakatini would once again be the two strikers while keeper cum striker Benamino Mateinaqara would start from the bench. Drudru and midfielder Eliki Ravosai will co-captain the team.

The match kicks off at 3pm.
