QORVIS Communications has overstayed its welcome and it’s time that we send them home, says Opposition MP Viliame Gavoka.
He highlighted this issue in Parliament yesterday during a debate to take out the $1 million allocation to Qorvis Communications under the 2019-2020 National Budget.
He said the organisation was a creature of the 2006 coup.
“We should get in local, qualified people who can handle public relations for the Government,” Mr Gavoka said.
“Qorvis Communications have overstayed their welcome and it’s time we send them back to where they came from.”
He claimed Qorvis Communications had been highlighted internationally for questionable acts.
Mr Gavoka said tertiary institutions in Fiji had courses in public relations.
Opposition MP Pio Tikoduadua said the allocation should be invested in other significant sectors such as health.
He said Qorvis should be sent back to the US.
Meanwhile, Qorvis Communications will receive an allocation of $1million.
The motion to strike out their allocation was defeated by 27 votes to 23 while one did not vote.
