LAUTOKA rugby coach Niko Qoro is optimistic his side will return to lift its standings in the Skipper Cup competition points table.
The side has been relegated to the bottom of the points table after another loss in the competition on Saturday.
Despite the loss, Qoro believe the side improved compared with their previous game.
The former national rep said the team’s below par performance was affected by the transfer of some key players to other teams such as Northland and Namosi.
“I still have faith in the boys and I am confident we will return to winning ways later in the season,” said Qoro.
“We were hit hard by the transfer of some of our key players to other provinces and we are still on the rebuilding phase.
“We have introduced some new and young boys and we are working hard to improve our combination.”
Qoro said the financial constraint faced by the union had also affected the team’s preparation.
“We are losing our good players because they have been offered jobs from other teams,” he said.
“Most importantly we don’t have the money to counter the offers made by other teams and also we don’t have the money to fully prepare our boys.
“But we are working with the limited resources we have and I am confident the side will improve our points standings in the next few games,” he added.
