COMMISSIONER of Police Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho says Police have not received “any support” on the attacks made on law enforcement officers.
“None of them, even when our Police Constable Siuta Niumataiwalu was stabbed to death, none of them sent a condolence message except for the Government,” Brig-Gen Qiliho said.
He said people were quick to make statements when a few elements in the force made wrong decisions.
“But unfortunately in this case, nobody has come up to support the police officers in dealing with issues.
“Nobody, even those who have made statements, none of them have shown any support.
“This shows the level of support we might have from people who are quick to jump and rubbish the police but will not speak out when things are done to police officers.”
He said despite the lack of support, police officers would continue to do their work professionally.
“We keep reminding our officers that we need to be professional, emotions might be running high but we will continue to deal with these cases in a professional manner.”
