SIGNBIZ Solutions Newtown Boxing Club president Jone Loloma has brushed aside rumours that negated Petero Qica’s position as Fiji’s reigning heavyweight champion.

The legitimacy of Qica’s reign as champion was being questioned in various circles on social media.

“We have heard and seen the rumours on social media in regards to Qica and I will confirm it now that Qica is the champion,” Loloma said.

Qica returned to boxing after being away from the sport for more than five years.

“Qica had been away due to work commitments and his hold on the title has gone unchallenged.”

Loloma said Qica would do his talking in the ring next month when he fights Isikeli Navuni in the heavyweight title bout.

“We thank Isikeli for coming forward for the fight.

“We hope to have a great contest next month in Nadi and wish all competitors all the best.”
