Provinces to honour ruggers

THE Nadroga, Malolo and Navosa rugby players, along with the Nadroga players who were part of the Rio Olympics 7s gold medal victory will be honoured in a special ceremony by the province of Nadroga-Navosa at the Sigatoka Village grounds during the two-day Adi Nadroga-Navosa Festival which starts today.

Adi Nadroga-Navosa Festival committee member Marika Nagata said this had been a successful rugby year for the whole province.

“Our Nadroga provincial team managed to retain both the HFC Bank Farebrother Trophy and Skipper Cup, Malolo remained in the top flight in the major division while Navosa won the Vodafone Cup in the B Division,” he said.

“Our province has decided to reward our players with some prizes as a sign of our appreciation to their hard work.”

The police band will lead the march starting from Tappoo store at 10am where the rugby players will be joined by the youths from the 22 districts of Nadroga and Navosa and march through Sigatoka Town to Sigatoka Village where they will be accorded to a traditional welcoming ceremony.
