Protecting our environment

When we talk about our environment in Fiji, a lot of things pop up in our mind.
One very important one is just coming up on August 1, 2017 — the use of plastic bags.
If you use them, you have to pay to keep the environment clean. I believe that is fair enough.
What about the smoke pollution at our bus stations? We have signs for “No Smoking” in bold letters at our bus stations Fiji wide.
What about the buses left with its engines running — even when it’s not leaving the bus bay?
The question here is not criticism but I have seen our young children at the bus station sitting there and breathing that black smoke from buses and how will it affect their health?
I have a special request if this can be taken care of by our Department of Environment to safeguard our children’s lives.
God bless Fiji.
