The Registrar of Political parties has rejected the applications by two proposed political parties.

Registrar Mohammed Saneem said this decision was reached after the evaluation of the applications for registration as political parties by the proposed ‘All Peoples Party’ and the proposed ‘Kingdom United Party’.

He said they had found that both applications had failed to meet the minimum requirements under Section (6) of the Political Parties (Registration, Conduct, Funding and Disclosures) Act 2013.

Section 6 sets out the application rules for registration.

To date, there are nine registered political parties in Fiji.
