Acting Prime Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says the recently launched satellite projects in rural Vanua Levu will help people differentiate the truth and the “lasulasu” information on social media and various websites.

During his visit to schools this week, Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said information was power.

He added it was important for people to access the right information about Government and other issues happening in society.

“It’s important that you get access to information because there’s a lot of rumour-mongering and lasulasu going around.

“So it’s important to access the right information.”

He added Government remained committed to leaving no Fijian behind.

The satellite project for schools included a webcam, laptop or computer, Walesi TV and free internet.

Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said Walesi could increase the number of channels from its existing eight.

If more channels were added, he said, they would include programs to benefit the community, including farmers.
