Probe on series of fire-related incidents

Police and the National Fire Authority are jointly investigating a series of fire-related incidents in the country over the past few days.

A fire broke out in Nanuku Settlement in Vatuwaqa on Sunday and destroyed four homes, a Fiji Police statement read.

In another report, Fiji Police said a 25-year-old man was questioned for a case of alleged arson following a fire at an apartment building in Wailoaloa, Nadi, on September 17.

It is alleged the suspect set fire to the room he was occupying.

The total damage is estimated at $7000.

Meanwhile, investigations are also in progress into a case of alleged attempted arson, which occurred on September 15.

A 50-year-old farmer was arrested and questioned for attempted arson.

The framer allegedly tried to set fire to a house belonging to a 31-year-old woman.
