THE Ministry of Fisheries has compiled a report of information regarding the alleged attack of six divers that happened at Kia Island two weeks ago. North divisional fisheries officer Joji Vakawaletabua said a team was sent to the island to collect information regarding the alleged incident.

However, he said, investigations would remain with the police.

“We have done our own inquiries into the alleged attack and we sent a team to Kia Island to hear both sides of the story,” he said.

“The information has been compiled but we will let police handle the case.”

Asked whether the ministry would also take the six men to task as they were diving and allegedly used gas, Mr Vakawaletabua said it was best for police to handle the matter.

The matter is still being investigated and police have also questioned the villagers who were allegedly involved in the attack.
