STRENGTHENING women’s ability to assume meaningful roles in progressive economic development, decision making and strategies to address climate change is a critical step to enhance climate resilience and effective response across Fiji.

This was highlighted by the Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation permanent secretary Ministry Jennifer Poole while officiating at a workshop on using Fiji law, policy and governance to strengthen women’s resilience to climate and disaster risk at Naviti Resort in Sigatoka yesterday.

She said these priorities were reflected in the Sustainable Development Goals and gender inclusive approaches to climate change and disaster risk management.
