Greetings to you all!
With all the hard yards done by our Vodafone national football head coach Christophe Gamel along with his other coaching staff, it is now all upon the boys to show it when the ball gets rolling this Thursday. The Bula Boys have settled in well in Manila, however, the heat is taking its toll. Nonetheless, I wish my boys all the best.
The Fiji Football Association Board of Control meeting will be held this Saturday. A lot of important things are on the agenda, especially with development of football in the country from the grassroots level. The Mom N Pop League and the age-group competitions are a few of the many alterations that have already been undertaken by Fiji FA to move the sport of football forward.
Further, the Vodafone Lautoka football team, who finished second in their group playoffs behind defending champions Auckland City, will travel to Tahiti to face AS Dragon in their quarter-final clash. I urge the Blues officials to get their overall focus for this upcoming elimination round as they will be representing Fiji. Also for fans and Lautoka businesses to financially help the team.
It is great to note that the Vodafone U18 Girls League is becoming equally competitive as all other grades. Following its inauguration this year, it has given our girls more reason to get engaged in football.
The Global Flight Centre Fiji FA Awards night nominations are now open and I urge districts to send in their nominations for their players and officials for the hard work and dedication they had shown to the district.
Last but not the least, on behalf of Fiji Football Association, I wish to congratulate our Fiji Airways Fiji 7s team for winning the Canada 7s in Vancouver. Vinaka Gareth Baber and the boys! You have set the platform for the upcoming Commonwealth Games.
Have a blessed week ahead.
