President Konrote in Ethiopia

Update: 12:32PM PRESIDENT Major General (Ret’d) Jioji Konrote today visited the Fiji chancery in Ethiopia where he was briefed by the staff on the role and responsibility of Fiji’s newest mission on the African continent.

A Government statement said
Fiji’s Ambassador in Ethiopia Mosese Tikoitoga briefed Mr Konrote on the role
of the mission as it worked to strengthen relations between Ethiopia and Fiji as
well as with the 12 other nations that the Embassy is accredited to. 

The President was also briefed
on the socio-economic and political developments taking place in Ethiopia as
well as potential areas that could boost relations between the two countries.
This included developing relations in the areas of agriculture and
industries. 

In commending the mission
staff, Mr Konrote also congratulated them for establishing strong working
relations with the people and Government of Ethiopia. 

“I wish you well as you
work to build relations and at the same time promote Fiji here in Ethiopia and
in those countries that you are accredited to,” Mr Konrote said. 

 

He also commended the embassy
for rapidly establishing a strong presence just five months after it was
established in Addis Ababa.
