Premier league: Neighbourhood challenge
29 October, 2016, 1:28 pm
Update: 1:28PM DREKETI is confident of beating neighbours Labasa in the Vodafone Premier League fixture at Labasa’s Subrail Park today.
Suva-based players Sitiveni Rakai, Setareki Rokowasa, utility Vikranth Chandra and former Fiji under-20 rep Ashnil Raju have joined the team in the North for the preparation towards the game.
“We had a good preparation for the match with our Suva-based players having joined the team earlier,” Dreketi Football Association vice-president Rishi Prasad said.
“It will not be an easy game. We lost to Labasa 6-0 in the first round so we want to turn the table around this time by beating them. The team can pull a win and we are expecting the boys to do that on the day.”
Dreketi has seven points after playing nine matches with two wins, a draw and six losses.
The Johan Leewai-coached side is a position above Nadroga who sits at the bottom of the danger zone of being relegated to the Senior Division next year.
The side failed to win any matches in the VPL this season.
“We are enjoying our journey so far,” Prasad said.
“We have been creating havoc for the other big teams in the competition, which is very good being a team from senior division which had been promoted only last year ago.
“The team always go out on the field to prove their worth to the fans and we urge the fans to come and support us in the match against Labasa.”
The match kicks off 7pm.
