Premier league: Nadi to start without experienced players

Listen to this article:

The Nadi Soccer Team will be a depleted side for the start of the 2020 Vodafone Premier League.

Only a handful of experienced players are training from Monday.

The Jetsetters will be without seasoned campaigners like Rahul Krishna, William Valentine and Christopher Kumar for the opening match.

Strike ace Napolioni Qasevakatini is training with the squad and will be a key player for the Green Machine for the 2020 soccer season, while Avinesh Waran Swamy has shown interest to don the green jersey this season.

Nadi will play Koromakawa Rentals sponsored Navua at the Uprising Sports Centre on Sunday at 3pm as the 43rd version of the National Football League kicks off.

The defending champion of the Vodafone Premier League is 4R Electrical and General Contractors Limited-sponsored Ba team with the sugar city boys as the second placed getter.

Eight district teams will clash against each other in a round robin format for the $20,000 top prize money with the added incentive of representing the nation at the 2021 OFC Champions League with the second placed team.
