SAHIL Dave of Suva scored the winning goal for the capital side to topple the underdogs Nasinu side in the Vodafone Premier League competition that was held at the ANZ Stadium in Suva this afternoon.
Suva’s imported striker Gagame Feni scored the first goal of the match in the 11th minute of play.
However, Nasinu answered back in the 21st minute through Jone Naraba’s boot to level the scores.
It was a see-saw first half encounter as both teams were unsuccessful in various goal attempts but Suva’s Ratu Anare scored their second goal as the hosts controlled the match until the halftime whistle.
The second half kicked off with Nasinu scoring their second goal through Semi Matalau to level the score to 2-all.
Suva’s replacement midfielder Dave scored their winning goal in the 88th minute of play with a bullet shot outside the box that gave the hosts their first win in the Vodafone Premier League.
Nasinu’s defender Joeli Ranitu said the lack of concentration in the second spell cost them the game.
“It was the lack of concentration and focus of the players in the last few minutes of the second half that cost us the match and we will regroup and try to better our performance in the next round,” said Ranitu.
Meanwhile, Suva has now recorded one win and two defeats in the VPL competitions with Nasinu recording two loss and one win.
