With pre-polling set to begin in the Yasawa’s next week, the Ba Provincial Council has reminded village headmen and district representatives to ensure their people turn up to vote.

Council administrator Nemani Tarotaro said the villagers were aware of the short time period that each polling station had and voters must be able to turn up within the allocated times.

“We came back from the Yasawa’s last week and that was one of our main messages to all our district representatives and village headmen,” he said.

“They are aware of the time periods of each polling station before the elections officers have to move to the next polling station.

“Each voter needs to be at their stations during those allocated times.”

He said villagers were also aware that they could not vote at any other polling station.

“They have to be at their registered polling stations.

“If they miss out on this chance to vote. They won’t get another chance.

“So they need to know where and when they will vote.

“We are also urging villagers that are not at their polling stations to please make plans to travel now.

“This is only time they will be able to vote.” Pre-polling in the Yasawas begins on Monday.
