Nadroga urged to remember athletes, country in prayers
THE Nadroga rugby team has always used a Bible verse for motivation while preparing for games and tournaments.

It is Matthew 19:26 (King James Version) which says “But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.”

Nadroga Rugby Union president Jikoibau Matawalu said the Bible verse was about having faith in the Lord.

Matawalu has urged members of the union to pray for Fiji and the world during this tough time.

“We urge all Nadroga players, officials, committee members, board members and fans to take moments of your time and pray for our beloved nation and its citizens as we go through the toughest time in the history of sports, rugby and our economy,” Matawalu said.

He believes faith in God would protect Fijians and the country from the destruction of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The union, meanwhile, has suspended all its organised events after Government directed the cancellation of all sporting events because of the coronavirus pandemic.

So far there has been no recorded case of any Fijian athlete to have succumbed to the sickness.

“Nadroga Rugby believes that with all the uncertainties surrounding our Nation and the whole world, God is in control. “We can only control the controllables which is what the Government of the day
is requesting us to do.
