LONG-DISTANCE runner Ayush Jervis Prasad is confident of ending his high school career on a high note this year.

The Year 13 student of Xavier College was in top form yesterday winning a gold medal in the 3000m.

The win was a platform for his Monfort House in its quest to successfully defend the title this year.

Ayush led contingent throughout the race and finished it style for a deserving victory.

He said the win had motivated him to fulfill his athletics goal this year.

“I have competed at the Coca-Cola Games in past years and won silver and bronze medals,” said Ayush.

“This is my last year at Xavier and I wanted to finish with a flourish and to win a gold medal at the Coke Games.

“I know it is going to be tough but I have ample time to work on my fitness and be in top form during the Fiji Finals.”

He said he had accomplished his first mission and the challenge was to repeat his gold medal win at the Ba zone.

“I am happy with the win and I will need to work hard to do well at the zone.

“I am also thankful that this win will help my house in our campaign to successfully defend the title.”

The competition ends today.
