Prasad shows class

NATIONAL rep Sahil Prasad showed his sharp shooting skills to win the South Seas Club’s final snooker championship for the 2017 season on Sunday.

The A Grade player was dominant during the six reds event claiming the title in style after beating in-form Shalend Gounder 2-0 in the final. In the semi-finals, Sahil beat Ba veteran Ismail Wali 2-1 while Gounder downed Humayun Khan by the same score. Upsets were recorded in the tournament. Lautoka Club’s Shivneet Chetty upset home club favourite Nitesh Chand in the opening round. Chetty beat Chand 2-1. William Lee of the Nadi Sports and Social Club surprised former Fiji number one Yogen Prasad winning 2-0. Lee also defeated Vinesh Prasad a former B Grade champion.

South Seas Club president Rahul Mohammed said they had a successful end to the season.

He said players from Suva, Nadi and Ba graced the final event which made it exciting.

“We hope to stage more tournaments next year and will draw up the calendar early,” Mohammed said.
