Prasad scoops bowls title

BOBBY Prasad scooped the annual Nadi Sports Club bowls singles event on Sunday.

The Portion Pak managing director won nine out of the ten round robin matches.

His only loss was against Munesh Prasad 19-21.

In the deciding fixture, Bobby defeated defending champion Son Padayachi 21-19.

This is Bobby’s second major title victory for the season after winning the Masters Pairs Championship with his cousin Rajnesh Prasad in Vatukoula last month.

Bobby finished the singles event ahead of Munesh who won eight matches.

The win has earned Bobby a spot at next year’s Masters Singles Championship.

Bobby said his next target was the National Championship.

“I’m happy to win my first club singles title,” he said.

“I practised daily in the lead up to the event. After going down in the Banana Cup quarter-finals, I did not lose hope.

“I got my rhythm back and things worked in my favour. The match against Som was a classic as it went down to the wire.”

The National Championship will be played next month.
