Keshaw Ram Sharma has praised the Fiji Footballf Association for its food ration packs distribution program to senior division players for both genders last Saturday at Choice Shopping Center in Veisari.
The Lami Football Club president said the assistance was timely in these very challenging times.
“We’re grateful to the president and executives of Fiji FA for the kind assistance,” Sharma said.
“It’s indeed a great token of appreciation especially with the assistance to those footballers, who had been in real need for such a noble deed.
“The food ration packs distribution to the footballers representing Lami FC in both the genders was timely.”
Sharma said the second wave of COVID-19 experienced in the country had impacted almost everyone and his band of warriors was no exception.
“Everyone is going through a lot at present.
“People have lost their employment, so many had taken leave without pay while there are others, who are working on reduced hours because of the novel coronavirus pandemic.
“Most don’t have a daily income and suffer each day so it’s fortunate that the parent body offered the assistance to the players.”
The accountant at Fiji Roads Authority confirmed a total of 17 men and 15 women footballers playing for Lami FC received the assistance.
Fiji FA had rolled out the food ration packs distribution exercise from early last month to all footballers impacted by COVID-19 in partnership with one of its major sponsors Punjas Group of Companies.
A similar program would be carried out for footballers in the Northern Division soon.
