Powerade Super Deans: RKS rule

THEY came as champions, played as champions and returned as champions.
The Ratu Kadavulevu School Under-18 side successfully defended its title at the 2018 Fiji Secondary Schools Powerade Super Deans Rugby Championship Finals defeating Cuvu College 20-nil in the final.
From bone crunching tackles to offloads to running at angles, it was a match the fans wanted to see.
After a fair share of possession, RKS struck first with a try to fly half Sireli Maqala.
Cuvu College half-back Mesake Tove failed to clear the ball from his ruck and from the resulting scrum Maqala touched down in the right hand corner.
RKS hooker Sakaraia Vunikauregu was sin binned for dangerous play but it did not deter the defending champions as they scored another try before the break through center Viliame Sokiveta.
The RKS fans went into frenzy when late into the first spell a flock of heron (RKS’s mascot) flew over the ANZ Stadium.
RKS led 12-nil at the break.
RKS dominated territory and possession in the second spell and were rewarded as Maqala touched down his second try to extend the lead 17-nil.
Halfback Jone Vatuwaliwali kicked a penalty soon after, RKS winning 20-nil.
Cuvu College took a pick and go approach in the match but their line outs and scrums let them down as they lost possession numerous times.
The RKS U18 side proved too strong in this years competition scoring 102 points in their last three matches(quarters,semis and final) and conceding only five.
The side thumped Nasinu Secondary 46-nil in the quarters and defeated Ratu Navula College 36-5 in the semi-final last week.
The Deans competition was once again dominated by the Lodoni based RKS side winning the U14,U15, U16,U19 and U18 titles.
Queen Victoria School were victors in the U17 grade defeating Lelean Memorial School 9-8.
Savusavu’s Napuka Secondary took out the U19 Women’s Sevens competition defeating Sacred Heart College 20-19 in the final.
