Power cut: Nadi, Sigatoka and Coral Coast on alert

RESIDENTS and hoteliers in Nadi, including parts of Sigatoka and the Coral coast are expected to be affected with power cuts on Sunday, June 3.
The planned power shutdown will occur in those areas as Energy Fiji Limited (EFL) carries out planned maintenance works on the 33,000 Volts Qeleloa to Nabou transmission line.
In a statement today, EFL acting chief executive officer Bobby Naimawi said in order to carry out the repair and maintenance, EFL engineers would need to de-energise the 33,000 Volts transmission line from our Qeleloa 33kV Zone Substation to Nabou.
This is from 5am to 6pm on June 3.
“Power supply to parts of Nadi will be switched off for safety reasons to allow our teams to carry out maintenance work on the 33,000 Volts transmission line,” Mr Naimawi said.
During this period, power supply to the Maro, Sigatoka and Coral Coast areas will be affected due to insufficient generation to cater for the entire demand in these areas.
“As a result, there will be a planned power shutdown affecting EFL customers in these areas from 5am to 6pm on Sunday June 3, 2018.”
Mr Naimawi added that works were planned to be carried out on Sunday due to the low electricity demand on this day, which will result in minimum disruption to its customers.
“EFL apologises for any inconvenience that may be caused as a result of this planned power shutdown due to maintenance and seeks the cooperation and understanding of all affected customers,” he stated.
The planned power shutdown will affect power supply to the following areas:
Part of Tunalia area, Part of Vunayasi area, Christian Campsite and Part of Nawaicoba Mandir Road, whole of Sigatoka Back Road, Namata, Natadola, IGH, Outrigger Resort and Fijian Resort, Sovi Bay, Vatukarasa, Digicel Vatukarasa, Balenabelo Settlement, Koroinasau Primary School, Balenabelo, Namada Village, Tambua Sands, Hide-A-Way Resort, Yatule Resort, Digicel Hide-A-Way, Tagage Village, Tagage old Forestry Station, Valase, Maui Bay Subdivision East & West Road, Muanivunise Sub-division, Nagasau Settlement, Votualailai Village, Digicel Votualailai, Naviti New Wing Resort, Naviti Old Wing Resort, Naviti Pump, Votua Housing, TFL Kavukavu, TFL Nabou Pine, Votua Village, Vilisite Restaurant, Villa Del Cowrie, Jafau Settlement, Korolevu Settlement, Korolevu Health Centre, Korolevu Police Post, Korolevu Post Office, Qalitu Settlement, Korolevu Shopping Centre, Bila Settlement, Biausevu Village, Digicel Warwick, Vodafone Warwick, Warwick Reservoir, Warwick Resort, and whole of Waibogi.
