Police were unable to confirm yesterday whether Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum has been questioned on his alleged link to a 1987 bombing incident.

Asked yesterday for an update on the case and whether Mr Sayed-Khaiyum had been questioned in relation to the complaint, police spokeswoman Ana Naisoro said: “I have to check.”

On November 3, Ms Naisoro told The Fiji Times that investigations into a complaint against Mr Sayed-Khaiyum “was still open and ongoing in relation to this case”.

On Tuesday, November 10, Ms Naisoro said the investigation resulted from a complaint lodged at the Totogo Police Station, Suva, in July this year.

She said police had submitted the case file to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for review.

Last Friday, the DPP’s office announced that the file had been sent back to the police “for further investigations”.

Asked about the allegations against him during a press conference on Thursday, October 29, Mr Sayed-Khaiyum had said that the police were “obviously carrying out their investigations”.
