Police to come down hard on government motorists

Update: 10:54AM POLICE will monitor speeding government vehicles following complaints that many state drivers abuse road rules.

Police Commissioner Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho said government drivers seemed to be the biggest abusers of road rules.

“If they do not stop, that is an extra charge on them when we send speeding tickets to their office. This has become the talk of the population now, that how come Police are booking others and not government vehicles,” Brig-Gen Qiliho said.

“I will also be talking to government about flashing lights on vehicles. Who is supposed to have them and the rest to be removed.”

The head of police said motorists no longer gave way to those vehicles which are meant to have flashing lights because of the unnecessary use of the feature.
