Police suspicion foils planned robbery

Update: 4:03PM POLICE officers in the Southern Division foiled a planned robbery of a major fast food chain following the arrest of five men on Thursday morning believed to have been planning the crime.
Members of the Southern Division taskforce had intercepted a vehicle in the Valelevu area of operation and questioned the two occupants who Police said were acting in a suspicious manner.
Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said in the process of questioning the occupants, they found the duo allegedly in possession of housebreaking implements.
She said the duo were taken in for questioning where they revealed their alleged plan of breaking into the popular fast food restaurant early that morning.
“They also revealed the alleged involvement of other men whereby officers were deployed and arrested the remaining suspects,” Ms Naisoro said.
Fiji Times Online has established that the first two men were arrested in Kinoya and the others were later arrested in Nadera.
All five are being questioned as investigations continue.
