Fiji’s COVID-19 patient number nine from Soasoa, Labasa remains in police custody as investigators seek further legal advice from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro confirmed this, adding the suspect remained in custody.

Police had earlier this morning said the suspect had been charged and would be produced at the Labasa Magistrates Court.

He had allegedly breached self-quarantine orders after arriving into Fiji.

The patient had returned from a religious gathering in India in March.
