Police quiz nine for brawl

Police are questioning nine people in relation to a brawl that took place between youths of Nabua Housing estate on Mead Rd and Nabua Village on Sukanaivalu Rd in Suva last Sunday.

Police spokeswoman Ana Naisoro said nine people were in custody and being questioned.

Eyewitnesses claimed youths from the two areas fought with sticks and rods.

Police broke up a large drinking party at Nabua Housing estate after the alleged brawl on Sukanaivalu Rd which saw a 40-year-old injured.

The incident is the latest in a series of fights that have erupted in the area.

In early April this year police were called to break up a fight involving about 50 youths from the two feuding communities.
