A MOTHER is grieving the loss of her 26-year-old son, Rohit Lal who was allegedly electrocuted at his workplace last Sunday.

Bimla Wati could not control her emotion as she broke down yesterday at their Lajonia family home lamenting the loss of her second eldest of three sons.

Ms Wati said she spoke with her son at 7am on the day as he told her to wait for him in the afternoon because he was getting bread for afternoon tea.

“Three hours later I heard from my youngest son who works with Rohit as a driver for the same bus company that he was no more,” she said.

“My son worked as a cleaner at the garage and he used to work weekends too.

“My eldest son has his own family but I live with Rohit and my youngest son as I had raised them up single-handedly after their father left.

“As a single mother, the most painful experience is to realise that a fruit of your hard labour has gone.

“My son was loved by those in the community and he was an easy going person who loved to meet and care for people,” she said.

“He was very close to me and every afternoon we would sit and yarn about issues and life over bread and tea.

“I had been expecting him to return home yesterday, but this will not happen.”

The deceased’s younger brother Kavitesh Lal found his brother’s body at the bus garage motionless with burn marks on his hand and stomach.

Mr Lal said his brother had been lying there for a while and raised the alarm and took him to the hospital.

Police said the casual worker was found lying motionless next to an electrical wire believed to have electrocuted him at the garage located at Naseakula in Labasa.

But Police said this would be confirmed after a post-mortem examination was conducted.

Investigations into the case are continuing.
