POLICE have noted an increase in alcohol-related reports.

In a statement today, Police Commissioner Brigadier-General Sitiveni Qiliho urged members of the public to ensure they enjoyed themselves responsibly.

His comments come after another police officer was allegedly attacked while assisting a taxi driver whose passenger, an army officer, was heavily intoxicated and was alleged to have refused to pay for his fare.

The incident happened at the Narere Police Post last night.

“As we are entering the festive season, the Fiji Police Force has noted an increase in alcohol-related reports and we are urging members of the public to be mindful of the need to enjoy themselves responsibly to avoid being caught on the wrong side of the law,” Brig-Gen Qiliho said.
