Police have confirmed that the accident at Tacirua yesterday afternoon claimed the life of a 62-year-old woman and her 39-year-old son.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said two others were admitted at the CWM hospital following a motor vehicle accident along Princes Road.

She said the man allegedly lost control of the vehicle causing it to veer off the road, hit a house before it tumbled down a hill.

“The second fatal victim – a 62-year-old woman – died at the scene while the other two passengers were rushed to the CWM hospital where they remain admitted,” Ms Naisoro said.

The fourth passenger is an 18-year-old girl who was medically examined at the Samabula Health Center and sent home.

The national road death toll stands at 22 compared to 38 for the same period last year.

Investigations are continuing.
