Police charge man for alleged attack on fishermen in Kia

A MAN has been charged with one count of assault in relation to the alleged attack on six fishermen on Kia Island on October 14.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said the man had been charged and produced in court today.

On the said day, the six men were allegedly poaching in waters near the island when they were attacked by the man.

Ms Naisoro had confirmed then that a few men had been taken to the Labasa Police Station for questioning before they were released.

The alleged incident occurred around midnight when villagers saw a torchlight and approached the group, four of whom were allegedly diving.
