SPECIALISED units from the Fiji Police Force have been pushed out to the main towns and city areas during this festive season increasing the man power for the force.

Responding to queries from Fiji Times Online today, Director Operations SSP Abdul Khan, who is in charge of the operations, said there had also been an increase in visibility of the force during the day.

“Over the past few days more manpower has been pushed forward to the main towns and city areas and these include officers from the Special Response Unit and other specialised units such as CID and Forensics due to the extended business operating hours and to increase visibility during the day,” SSP Khan said.

He said the force was also working with the Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji in overseeing the movement of maritime vessels.

The police has also requested members of the public to be mindful of their safety at all times and to inform their neighbours if they plan to leave their homes vacant.
