BRISBANE, 26 APRIL 2019 (THE NATIONAL) – PNG Hunters coach Michael Marum has recalled Charlie Simon into the starting side in place of Jerry Teme for the Intrust Super Cup ANZAC Day Round 8 clash against Burleigh Bears at Pizzey Park today.
Simon, who was effective off the bench over the last two games, rekindles his combination with Ase Boas as Marum continues search for his best performing halves combination.
Marum also named forward Jordan Pat, who become Hunters No.81, to make his debut off the interchange bench alongside Daniel Tapol, Joe Frank and Patrick Morea.
Marum is expecting another tough Kokoda Cup clash with the home side eager to maintain their possession of the trophy as well as bank another two competition points.
Marum said the Bears brought a physical aspect to the contest which would be diferent to their last game against Jets.
“Our game last week was well below our standard, missing tackles, dropping the ball and making bad decisions in defence, it was a pretty bad day for us,” Marum said.
Marum said he was expecting a big improvement in attitude and execution against the Bears.
“With Charlie back in the halves hopefully we get better direction and our option taking is better.”
