PNG, Fiji on a development and partnership talk

DISCUSSION’S centred on development and partnership between the Minister for Youth and Sports Laisenia Tuitubou and his Papua New Guinean counterpart Justin Tkatchenko occurred last Friday in Port Morseby.
Mr Tkatchenko, as the Minister responsible for the 2015 Pacific Games, commended Fiji’s support in sending a big contingent to participate at the regional meet.
He highlighted the willingness to share designs and expertise on facilities and knowledge for the hosting of such events.
Mr Tkatchenko also briefed Mr Tuitubou on the facilities that were built and renovated for the hosting of the Pacific Games.
The ministers also mutually agreed that Fiji and PNG provide the necessary assistance to Melanesian countries in the areas of sports and culture.
Mr Tuitubou reassured Mr Tkatchenko of Fiji’s commitment towards sports development and a formal correspondence would be sent by the Ministry of Youth and Sports to formulate a way forward for increased partnership.
Mr Tuitubou is currently in PNG as part of the Fijian delegation at the XV Pacific Games.
Mr Tuitubou also met briefly Papua New Guinea Prime Minister Peter O’Neill on the margins of his courtesy visit to Mr Tkatchenko.
