THE Prime Minister’s Office has been receiving good feedback regarding the 54 personnel from the engineering division of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces.

In an interview, the office’s permanent secretary Yogesh Karan said the personnel had been deployed to affected areas in Australia and they were performing their duties well.

“Fiji’s High Commissioner to Australia Luke Daunivalu is very actively involved in the rehabilitation works and he is keeping us informed of what is happening there,” he said.

Speaking during the opening of four new teachers’ quarters at the Namalata District School in Korovou, Tailevu, on Friday, Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama paid homage to the personnel, adding they instilled a sense of pride in Fijians.

“They are hard at work helping our neighbours rebuild from the bushfire crisis,” said Mr Bainimarama.

Meanwhile, speaking during the Australia Day dinner event at the Australian High Commission, the country’s high commissioner to Fiji John Feakes expressed the Australian people’s gratitude to Fijians for assisting in recovery work.

Mr Feakes said the effort would boost relations between Australia and Fiji.
