PM meets Prince Harry

PRIME Minister Voreqe Bainimarama met His Royal Highness Prince Henry of Wales yesterday in the lead-in to Commonwealth Heads of Government’s Meeting (CHOGM) in London, England.
Prince Harry, as his commonly known met PM Bainimarama at Buckingham Palace where they discussed Fiji’s COP 23 presidency as well as the importance of combating climate change through ambition—to reduce the rise in global temperature by 1.5 degrees as outlined in the Paris Agreement.
A Government statement said PM Bainimarama also informed Prince Harry about the most recent severe weather events to strike Fiji, Tropical Cyclones Josie and Keni.
The statement said Mr Bainimarama also highlighted the efforts on the Ocean Pathway – a COP23 initiative designed to highlight the importance of ocean health in the fight against climate change and support the maintenance of critical ocean ecosystems.
Prince Harry is said to have commended PM Bainimarama for his leadership as President of COP23 and praised Fiji’s global advocacy for the protection of oceans and reefs.
