Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama says Government needs funds to refurbish overseas properties.

He said this in response to queries from the Opposition on the necessity of a $100,000 allocation in the 2021-2022 budget, in light of the country’s battle with COVID-19.

Mr Bainimarama said refurbishment of overseas missions was needed.

Attorney-General and Economy Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said Fiji owned properties in Brussels and Australia and funds were needed to maintain the properties and not simply for purchasing fancy curtains.

The Foreign Affairs Ministry has been allocated $28.1 million in the 2021-2022 Budget.
