A WEEK after the lifting of bans on three international journalists from visiting the country, Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has invited New Zealand journalists to come and see for themselves the progress Fiji has made during the past seven years of economic growth.
Mr Bainimarama is on his first State visit to New Zealand following the general election in September 2014.
Last week, he announced the lifting of the bans on all international journalists. Three who were banned were Michael Field, Barbara Dreaver and Sean Dorney.
While speaking at the Trade and Investment Symposium in Auckland, New Zealand yesterday, Mr Bainimarama also asked the New Zealand media to cover events fairly and in a balanced manner.
“I hope you will come and see for yourselves that our institutions of State are functioning properly and we are strengthening those institutions as we move forward.”
