PM criticises plan of termination

FijiFirst leader Voreqe Bainimarama has criticised The People’s Alliance party and National Federation Party’s plan to terminate CEOs and permanent secretaries, saying they would do this and replace them with macawa (useless) individuals.

Mr Bainimarama said this during a recent rally in Navua.

Speaking to a crowd of supporters, he warned voters about PA leader Sitiveni Rabuka and NFP leader Professor Biman Prasad and their intentions.

“The word is that all CEOs and permanent secretaries will be terminated, we have appointed these people on merit,” Mr Bainimarama said.

“If they are all terminated, their replacements would be the ones that do not deserve the position.

“Again we are having this conversation which will bring out macawa (useless) people who are not picked on merit.”

The People’s Alliance party and the NFP have been critical of the appointment of expatriates and individuals to these senior positions which were accompanied by “hefty” salaries.
