Fijian Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama today encouraged 53 landowners to generate income using their land.

He stressed this today while handling out the seed fund grant for the landowners.

The PM told the landowners that the funding grant was an investment.

“It is an investment to empower our landowning communities to tap their assets and entrepreneurial spirit to make them financially powerful,” Mr Bainimarama said.

“Your land is protected for all time by our Fijian Constitution.

“But unless it is put to productive use, it will only remain an asset. It will not generate income that can feed you and your families.”

He said a total of $460,000 was handed out to the 53 successful grant recipients.

The event was held at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva.
