PM Bainimarama congratulates India on 73rd Independence Day anniversary

COOPERATION between our two countries spans across trade, investment, healthcare, communication, education, sports, climate change, renewable energy and resource-based sectors.

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama said this while conveying his congratulations to India on the occasion of the country’s 73rd Independence Day anniversary.

“Our two countries have enjoyed strong relations which is not only etched in history but built on a solid foundation of collaboration and strong relationship,” Mr Bainimarama said.

Mr Bainimarama, in a congratulatory message to his Indian counterpart Shree Narendra Modi, said the occasion marked a proud day for democracy around the world with India leading the way to reach yet another milestone.

Today, Indians around the world will mark the special occasion with their leader, Prime Minister Modi, expected to hoist their country’s tricolour flag at the Red Fort when delivering his speech to the nation

Mr Bainimarama also acknowledged India’s timely financial assistance to Fiji’s small and micro enterprises sector through the provision of the Micro and Small Business Grant which has benefitted the lives of many ordinary Fijians.

He also reaffirmed his support to Mr Modi and looked forward to strengthening the values shared between the two countries which would continue to serve as a solid platform to raise the level of political dialogue and increase closer collaboration for a stronger Fiji-India relation.
