Fijian Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has called for the resignation of National Federation Party leader Prof Biman Prasad’s wife from the University of the South Pacific.
In response to Prof Prasad’s statement which described Mr Bainimarama’s talk about gender empowerment as a farce, he said the nation knew that his Government valued gender empowerment especially for women and young girls.
When contacted, Prof Prasad said Mr Bainimarama had diverted from real issues affecting the country and should concentrate on matters that affected Fijians.
He said the university had its own procedures and processes in hiring suitable candidates such as his wife.
