Government should improve marketing opportunities for fishermen and farmers living along the coastal villages of Macuata.

Villagers made this plea to Acting Prime Minister and Finance Minister, Professor Biman Prasad during the budget consultation at Korotubu Village.

Many concerns raised surrounded this issue of lack of marketing opportunities they have faced iver the past years.

Villager Seruwaia Civavono told Prof Prasad that they would go out fishing, return with a big catch but most times, families have had to eat the fish because they have not been able to sell their catch.

Another youth supported her plea and asked Prof Prasad to fix the situation as most depended on the sea and farms for income.

In his response,  Prof Prasad said they would need to review the functions of the Agricultural Marketing Authority and see how these villagers could be best assisted.
